Problems with USB dongle wireless mouse

My mouse is a Redragon M801 RGB. While the mouse is on and seemingly working, my computer will randomly disconnect certain USB ports but only with the mouse. The mouse will become unresponsive, with all the lights still on. If I disconnect the mouse dongle from a USB port and reconnect it to a separate port, it starts working again, only for it to repeat this after a while with the new port. If I reconnect it to a port which has stopped working, it remains unresponsive, and as my laptop has three ports this means it will stop working completely in a while. Thisi cycle resets every time the laptop is turned on. When a port becomes unusable for the mouse, it remains working for anything else that is plugged into it. When the mouse stops working in a port, the 2.4G Wireless receiver disappears from the device list, and reappears when connected to a new port. This is probably the weirdest technical issue I have ever encountered. If I connect the mouse via a USB-C type cable in an unresponsive port, it does not work, yet it does in a working port. The problem remains after the mouse is turned off and on again.

90% of the problem you're having are battery related. Before we go further, please change the battery or at least look for corrosion. The expiration date on batteries is useless unless there's 10 years remaining.

There does not appear to be any way to open up the mouse in order to change the battery. It's a lithium ion battery. The mouse seems to work, only becoming unresponsive to certain USB ports in my laptop. I ordered it new 5 months ago, and it has not seen enough use to deplete the initial charge. I was using it in my PS5 with no issues, but I didn't use it for very long so maybe the same issues would have developed. I only started using it a few days ago.

When I plugged it in just now (into an unresponsive port), it started working again, which it hasn't done in the past. It remains unresponsive when the wireless receiver is plugged into the same port, it remains unresponsive, and does not show up in the device list. Changing the settings for the USB root hub must have fixed one issue, but I suspect there is another issue with the wireless receiver itself (though it remains working in other hubs). This has mostly solved my problem, but it appears it will have to function as a wired mouse from now on to avoid cutting out. The light indicates it was at about half battery according to the manual. Thank you for all your help and patience.

The light turned green, which the manual indicates it is fully charged. I am skeptical of this, as it had several hours of use and was only charging for a few minutes. It’s almost certainly a battery issue like you were saying, which is pretty shocking considering how new and unused the mouse is. I’ll probably have to buy a new mouse as there’s no way to charge the battery. I restarted my computer which resets all the ports to work again, and the issue hasn’t reoccurred yet (it usually happens after the mouse has been unused for a few minutes).
