Whenever I log in, the on-screen keyboard launches. I cannot find where to switch this off.

Hi, sometimes this can be a little tricky, the usual is to:-

Select “Start” > “Settings“.
Choose “Ease of Access“.
Select “Keyboard“.
Set “On-Screen Keyboard” to “On” or “Off” as desired

Thanks Masterchiefxx17
No - it is not a touch-screen computer. It's a desktop with a standard monitor.

I can't find where the settings are.

Thanks jenae
All the settings are set to "off" for keyboard in ease of access

Hi, as I said this can sometimes be a little tricky, open a cmd as admin ( you should know how, by now) and copy paste the following cmd:-

reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI" /v showtabletkeyboard > 0 & notepad 0

Press enter, if the setting is 1 the keyboard is active, if 0 it is not (default). Let us know, or you can post the notepad output here.

There is an additional reason it might be active, I copied this from another site:-
Try these steps:

Right click the window start button at the bottom left of your screen to bring up a menu. (or press win + r keys to open the "run" box)
Click “Run” and type in “osk.exe” press “Enter” key.
Previously I had closed out the On-screen Keyboard so when I pressed the “Enter” key and the OSK will pop up.
At the bottom of the keyboard to your right you will see a key “Options”, click that key.
You will get a popup “Options” box and at the bottom you will see a blue link “Control whether the On-Screen Keyboard starts when I sign in” PRESS THAT LINK and another box will popup.
If “Use On-Screen Keyboard” is checked…. Uncheck it!
Select “Apply” then “OK” (this will close out the box).
Select “OK” on the “Options” box to close it out. “Ease of Access Center” box may be visible, no problem, just close it out.
Close out the Keyboard allowing you to FINALLY get rid of that aggravating OSK!

My sincerest apologies guys, buy I think I've led you astray.

It is the "Touch" keyboard that is the issue (I have an icon in my System Tray).

I've gone in to the settings when it is open, but there are only spelling and typing settings.

Thanks Rich-M

That option is not shown in the list ("select items to appear in the taskbar")

I'm ok that it appears in the system tray (if I want to remove it, I simply right-click on the system tray and deselect it)

My problem is that the Touch Keyboard loads when I log on and I want to stop that.

Or am I misunderstanding?

Hi Rich-M

I assume it is a standard part of Windows 10 (but I'm not sure).

If I right click on the Taskbar, I get an option "Show touch keyboard button".

I have it selected and it appears in my System Tray. Selecting or deselecting this has nothing to do with my issue, as this was the same before the most recent autumn update and it never started automatically at startup.

See attached.
