Ok, though this issue wasn't a big deal to me at all, since it's been in place since February I guess, it was a pain for the client though, what's new! The fix, while in gmail in Chrome:

General
Google Workspace Smart Features
Manage Workspace Smart Feature Settings
Turn off "Smart Features in Google Workspace"

Also who pays enough attention to email to even notice it. Anyway thanks for the input everyone. Hopefully the next question I post is something more meaningful.

 

Sounds like choosing "Help Text" option makes a permanent choice.

 

I would reach out to Google support for this the issue is that it seems extremely difficult to find any number or email of value to request help.

 

We turned off Gemini in the domain for the client. I sounds like the initial text is still showing up in email even after that. Waiting for the client to respond for a remote session to see what she sees.

I do notice that if I open a new email in domain gmail, I can start typing an email as usual. If I hit the button to use the help text option it doesn't appear to go away after that.

I have a workspace account (my domain) and personal gmail accounts. The Gemini logo in the upper right corner of the phone only shows in my workspace account.

 

I tried that and it didn't change anything. When I try it in my personal gmail account I don't get the prompt at all and I didn't change any settings. I'm thinking it has something to do with a Google Workspace business account. However no luck on finding anything that says its a DCR by Google for Workspace account.

 

In Gmail settings turn off "Smart Reply".

 

I turned off that option as well. The "help me write" text, appears to only show up when replying to threads. When creating a new email, you have to select the option, then of course it doesn't go away. Such a weird option.

Thanks for the links. I tried them and that didn't work. I think my question really comes down to. When In Gmail, in Chrome atm. If your in a message thread and you go to reply, the "Help me write..." popup happens.

What is causing it? Not sure what it is.

 

From Google

To shut off Gemini from Google, you can:

1. Log in to your Google account and go to the Google Account Settings page. Scroll down to the Google Services section and click on Manage services. Look for Google Gemini and click on the toggle button to turn it off1.
2. For desktop users, open your preferred web browser, navigate to the Google homepage, click on your profile picture, select ‘Data & Personalization’ from the left-side menu, scroll down to the ‘Activity Controls’ section, find ‘Web & App Activity’, and toggle the switch to turn off the activity

 

After going through all settings I can see related to Gemini or this specific setting, nothing yet seems to work to remove in Chrome. The text does not pop up in Firefox.
