My laptop won't connect to my Internet connection. Would restarting my router help and fox that?

Please list your laptop brand/model. Restarting your router doesn't mean your computer will be able to connect to the internet afterwards, depeding on the situation.
First off, are the drivers installed for both the ethernet and wifi network cards on the laptop? Check the device manager to see if there are any exclamation marks on any of the devices in the device manager.
Also, open up the command prompt and type in "ipconfig/all" and list the IP address that you get.
