This error started on the 28th with no warning. WindowsUpdate_80244019 OR WindowsUpdate_dt000. I ran avast and malwarebytes but no result. I ran scannow it found corrupt files but was unable to fix them. I ran check disk and it found some corrupt files but It fixed them. I ran scannow again and It found some corrupt files again but was still unable to fix them. See attached log file of scannnow

Windows 8.1 pro

Please do not dismiss me so out of hand. There is no evidence of a virus at this time. All that has been proven is the existence of corrupt files. How that happened is unclear. I came here to find out why as well as a solution to the issue.

No one is dismissing you in any way, I have given you the first steps to check if there is any malware Etc, since the page I linked you to infers that this is the most likely cause, given that it seems prudent to check first and then continue if required. No one anti virus or scanner catches all instances of infection, and the security section has tools available which you would not, so has more chance of discovering if you have a malware problem.

Very well, I will post to it later when I have the time. In the mean time, I will go to work. However, besides windows update not working, my computer is running without issue. There is no other anomalies present and I have not seen any evidence of my information being compromised.

I hope that proves to be the case and your malware free, once you have been checked you can come back to this thread and we will see what else can be done.

I'm getting the exact same error as you and it started yesterday and so is my neighbor and my gamer buddies on Steam. This has something to do with the Windows 10 rollout. I also have windows 8.1 pro. Most likely the servers are being hammered and Microsoft either intentionally shut down updates possibly for certain users or it's just so busy that we can't get through. I bet you that it starts working again in a day or two.

Same problem here. It seems to be a problem regarding other Microsoft Product updates (in my case).

Check:

Go into Change PC Settings (from the little Windows 8 side-bar thing you get from putting your mouse in the top-right corner; I don't know what it's called).
Update and Recovery
Choose how updates get installed
UNCHECK the option to get updates for other Microsoft products

Windows Update works...

You can also check and fix the problem here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/windows-update-issues/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0

It found some problems, but the full update still does not work.
I think it's just some stuff going on with MS update servers. Will check later.

Still no luck at my end.

Still the WindowsUpdate_80244019 OR WindowsUpdate_dt000 when I try to update. It only works when I UNCHECK the option to get updates for other Microsoft products in how updates get installed.

Also no way to install Windows 10 at this moment.
