So a few weeks ago I turned my laptop on one morning and it refused to connect to any Wi-Fi hotspots wirelessly. It worked perfectly fine the day before but hasn't done since. I'm still able to connect via ethernet cable and that all works fine.
The laptop can detect all Wi-Fi hotspots within range but upon trying to connect I'm left with the message "Can't connect to this network." and not much of a reason as to why.
The laptop is custom ordered from PC Specialist so listing specs is difficult but the wireless adapter (what I'm thinking is the cause of my problem) is an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN.
I recently download a Wi-Fi Connection Utility tool from Intel's website to try and pinpoint the problem and, upon running a Manual Diagnostics Test, it revealed that my laptop failed at an "Association Test" with the test summary stating "Not associated". I don't have much of an idea what this means but after googling around it seems that everyone whose laptop fails this association test has a similar issue to me.

- Attempted to connect to many other hotspots (determined problem was not with the router)
- Fitted a replacement wireless adapter of the exact same model (determined problem was not with the wireless network card itself)
- Updated to the latest wireless adapter drivers
- Rolled back to previous wireless adapter drivers
- Uninstalled and deleted the wireless adapter from Device Manager and then rebooted so Windows would install the drivers itself
- Performed a System Restore to a time when I was able to connect to hotspots wirelessly
- Completely re-installed Windows 8.1
