I'm looking for a fix my computer that has become suddenly problematic.

At present, I need your help or set of instructions for an issue or issues on the which I think began with a faulty Firefox upgrade.

1. I can't access the Add/Remove program listing in Normal mode, but Safe Mode.
2. I can't install latest Windows update. It keeps failing.
4. Ad Aware suddenly disappeared, and I can't reinstall because it says I'm missing a Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime file which does exist when viewing Control Panel/Add/Remove in Safe Mode.

What would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

This is a core malware/spyware issue, and not a Windows XP issue. I'd have appreciated it not being redirected to this new location without having been addressed.

The problem began with what I think was a faulty Firefox upgrade.

I detected four or five Trojans using Malwarebytes in Safe Mode that weren't detected in Normal mode.

As noted above, I can't reinstall Ad Aware.

At the onset of this (these) issues, I scanned and removed and detected defected or corrupted files using Advance System Optimizer.

I'm running AVG now from Safe Mode.
