Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D freezing

i'm just writing this quick note looking for help for my girlfriends toshiba satelite pro L450D
well the problem is it's constantly hanging mid programe then freezing the whole laptop
til she has to turn off the computer manually causing forced shut down meaning start up
in f8 can anyone help my poor baby
