Hi all, I've got a computer with media center edition 2005. Right now it is running dirt slow, and don't tell me anything about defrag and registry cleaners because I have tryed that stuff, but it won't spped it up. I have decided that I want to do a 100% clean XP re-install. After searching online, I found close to nothing on the topic that would be useful to me. I have the original discs used to install XP on the machine, they are the 'oficcial' xp install cds. There are 3 of them, one says it has updates, and the other two are for actually installing the OS. Can sombody give me clear instructions on a clean re-install? Has anybody with media center edition tryed it before?

Thank you all for your generous help.

Re: Re-installing windows xp media center edition

Basically back up what you want to save.
Put Disc 1 in, set PC to boot from CD and start the setup.
Choose to format your drive and install a fresh XP.
This means deleting the partition in Windows Setup..very easy to do!
Then just follow the prompts as you go through.
You need your CD, Licence Key for W-MediaCentre and about 45-50 mins

Re: Re-installing windows xp media center edition

So I can do this without buying a new xp cd? I just use the original? I have to be sure because you all know that you can't buy xp anymore, and vista sucks!

Thanks for the replies so far!
