Im posting this under Windows 8 thread, because I couldnt find more appriopriate place. Especially that I dont know what is causing my problem.

In general - performance of my PC has decreased sginificantly recently, and I suspect one of the recent Flash updates (however, on Win 7 - I do not experience this problem).

My CPU:
- CPU Core 2 Duo 2.5
- GPU Nvida GeForce 9600
- Enermax 425
- 4 GB Corsair

I have good cooling system, so the temperatures are not the problem (less then 50 under stress)

The biggest problem I noticed is when I play flash games. I've been playing them forever, but the problems started ~2 weeks ago. CPU usage jumps to 50-75% when the Chrome tab is active. The same happens in Firefox and IE. However, when I play in laptop (much weaker specs, but Win 7) - the CPU usage stays normal ~5%.

But I also noticed weaker performance in games. Leage of Legends for example. The strange thing is that FPS only drops in certain circumstances. I think that when lot of bright colours appear on screen. But it's only a wild guess. In ~75% of the time, FPS is high (60).

But sometimes PC solws down greatly for a moment when switching between windows. Especially with those little preview windows:

System is pretty fresh, I had to reinstall Win 8 ~4 weeks ago due to (I think) Hdd failure. PC froze and it wouldnt start. All recovery options failed. Only reinstal from CD helped.

I would appreciate support.

Re: High CPU usage (Flash, Games)

Looking at your startbar it looks like you have installed some customizations, have you disabled them and tried

Which 9600 GPU do you have
Desktop GPUs | GeForce

Have you downloaded the latest drivers.

the symptoms makes me think either the driver is out of date or the card may be going bad.

I have GeForce 9600 GT - drivers most recent from Nvidia page - 302.18

Customization - I only changed colour of the bars, but just in case I tried the default settings - nothing changed.

No. While playing games - too. Although only in certain situations which is very weird.

When I play, and no matter how many players, monster on the map, I have 60 fps. With Vsync turned off, it goes up to ~90:

But when I try to cast a spell, and a blue pointer appears, fps drops to 15-30:

That's the only slow down I have noticed in games. Then again, I only play 2 games. Tomb Rider 2013 works without any problems.

Now that I think about that, it might indeed be a faulty GPU. Any way to test it? I dont have a replacement on PCI Express to compare.

I tend to think it is the GPU as it works fine in Tomb Raider but has issues in browsing and Flash Games it sounds like the 2D chip may be the problem
