[SOLVED] Edimax 11n usb wireless lan is disable

I use an Edimax wireless usb to connect to my internet. Here is a link to the devicea nd its drivers: ::: EDIMAX Technology :::. I had to disable the device recently (Small tick box in the Edimax software UI), after which it will now no longer enable when i unchecked this box.

When i hover over the icon in the start bar i get the error message you see in the title; "Edimax 11n usb wireless lan is disable".

What is happening is that it keeps refreshing itself as if stuck in a loop and then the tick box magically re-disables itself. I have uninstalled and removed all traces of the software to then re-install everything. it still does the same thing. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

On Windows 7 you should also be able to see it via Network connections

Start > Search for Network and Sharing Center

Open that up and on the left hand side find, "Change Adapter Settings"

You should see your Wireless Adapter, hopefully it's disabled, right click it and choose Enable.

If you can't see it through the above method, try another USB port on your pc, does it make a sound like you have plugged a USB device in, does it pop up saying its installing device driver software?

Ok, thanks for the quick response. I went to change adapter settings to find it is already enabled there. Also it does make a noise when I unplug or plug it in to the pc, along with this, the normal green light is blinking away as usual.

Yet in the UI it keeps refreshing to disabled.

I have just removed edimax software and downloaded my motherboards drivers - Realtek that control wireless devices. The same UI opens up with the same problem

Do you not see it bottom right next to your clock?

The wireless connections are available?

Yes both windows wireless connections and the device.

Windows says no connections are available, upon troubleshooting it says its due to the device

The device when hovered over says that it is disabled. When i open that i can see that the disabled icon is ticket. I unchecked this, it refreshes and the tick box auto ticks itself and thus forcing it to be constantly disabled

I have made some progress with this and the theme is no longer relevant so im am closing this thread. Thanks for the help
