Renaming tracks burnt on audio CDs

Hi there,

I burnt some audio songs (downloaded from the internet) onto a audio CD, using the Windows Media Player "Burn" facility. The songs on my PC contain all information including track title. However, after burning, when the CD loads up in Windows Explorer or in the CD Player of the car, the tracks on the audio CD (I use Read-Write CDs for burning) appear as "Track 1", "Track 2" and so on.

I've tried the following from eHow:

Opened the MP3 album on my PC in Windows Media Player - Right-clicked, selected "Find Album Info", clicked Edit beneath "Existing Information" - Entered the album title, track titles for each track in the list, clicked "Done", then "Finish". Then moved all these tracks to a "Burn" list in the right pane of WMP. Burnt onto a blank audio CD. However, when I open the audio CD using Windows Explorer, the track titles still appear as "Track01", etc.

Is there any other way of renaming tracks on audio CDs so that the correct track title information appears in the car CD Player / Windows Explorer ?

Thanks

Hi, thanks, went through the FAQs but could not find any guidance on how to rename tracks that are burnt on an audio CD. The FAQs give info about ripping, but in my case, I have already downloaded music from the internet, I do not rip the music from audio CDs. Any solution to this problem ?

Did you mean this FAQ ?

"Can I rename of move files that I have already ripped ?
Yes. If you change the naming convention or storage folder for ripped files, you can apply the changes to files you had ripped previously as well. To do so, select the (a) Rename music files using rip music settings and (b) Rearrange music in rip music folder, using rip music settings check boxes on the Library tab of the Options dialog box. When you do so, each file will be renamed and moved the next time media information is retrieved or edited for the file."

I went to the Library tab and checked the two boxes mentioned above. Thereafter I burnt a few songs onto a blank RW audio CD, but the track names did not appear when I opened the CD in Windows Explorer. It still shows "Track01, Track02, and so on. Is there something I am missing doing ?

Thanks

On the same Library tab under Options, there is already a check in the box for "Retrieve additional information from the internet". The selected radio-button option is "Only add missing information".

Is this what you meant ?

Thanks

Hi,

The article in the link talks about renaming ripped files in Windows Media Player, whereas my issue is that the files in Windows Media Player display correct track titles, but when they are burnt onto a audio CD, and then the CD contents are viewed in a car CD player or in Windows Explorer, then the track titles are displayed as "Track01", "Track02", etc.

I thought this would be a common issue faced by anyone burning music on audio CDs, but it seems it is either not a common issue, or alternatively users are not bothered about the fact that track titles do not appear. Maybe I'll just learn to live with this problem until a solution comes my way, or will check with some music professionals who burn audio CDs regularly, they may have the answer.

In any case, many thanks for your help.
