I currently have a couple of bits left over from both my now butchered systems. Very long story but im fed up with wasting my valuable time. So, I currently have a Nvid 9800 GT and a couple of terra in some Hitachi Deskstars (very fast, nice disks).
What I want to do but not sure about is the following:
I wan't to get an I7 box (920 seems very nice for the price)
Need a Mobo to support it
I need fast as **** memory and at least 6gig
Optional
I would really like to SLI my current card ... can i? I have no idea about this stuff (its an Inno3D 9800GT Dual DVI - HDTV etc). I will also support this with a couple of Velociraptors (I know all about the dis/advantages of Raid 0) with my 2x1TB Deskstars running the data.
The PC is primarily a gaming rig, mostly Eve-Online - yes MASSIVE overpower I know - and also to play HD/Blu-ray films, of which I already have an LG combo drive.
So my questions are:
- Can anyone recommend an I7 Mobo that will support my requirements?
- PSU has a 6pin 12v, would be nice to use this but not essential
- Is my current GFX actually SLI'able?
- Can i just use any other manufacturers 9800GT?
- Recommend a cpu cooler for this rig?
- is an 800watt PSU enough to support?
- Any onboard raid will run the veloci's, i need a small PCI-E for my second raid
- Mobo *MUST* have an Spdif (square one) ... not such a silly question, been caught out before!
I reckon i have a grand budget. If anyone can recommend a supplier for these other than the normal Scan/Dabs/Nova/Ebuyer etc for a specific reason, that would be cool, otherwise im happy to use these guys.
