Hi,

I need some help here. Does anyone here know how to insert a ram without any existing rams in the ram slot? most tutorials i have seen teaches you how to change the ram with an existing ram slot.

The problem is that without a ram inside the ram slot, you can't get the ram slot to pop out and slot a new one in.

I hope some one can help me out. Thanks! :)

well we need to know what laptop you have there are lots of different ones and some have different methods.

Some have slots under the keyboard and some on the underside of the laptop and some have side panels. You should be able to install RAM whether there is RAM in the laptop or not if you actually have the slots for it.

Hi,

My model is Asus N43SL

Also, some slots lift up and some don't. Have you tried to insert RAM into the slot?
Yes, my slot should lift up. What happened was that when I removed my old ram card, i did not insert a new one. Instead i closed it. When I returned with a new ram card, I was unable to make it lift up again so that I can insert the ram card :(

hi guys thanks for your help! i took ganjeji's advise and i slot in the ram at a 45 degree angle and it worked! :)

However, I have another question. The new ram i am using have only 4 modules on each side of the ram while the old one has 8 module. however, when i buy it they have exactly the same name: DDR3 10600/ 1333mhz.

Just to confirm there shoudn't be any issues with having different modules right?

The only way to know the sticks are compatible is to try them together.
RAN should be purchased in matched pairs to avoid any problems. Crucial brand is the best choice for OEM Mobo's.
