Why does the graphic equalizer distort my music when i put it to high levels when it didn't before in windows media player 10 + 11? I've tried a full system recovery to no avail. It does it for both mp3 and wma. Has my operating system developed some flaw? But i did notice when i rolled back from wmp11 to wmp10 once that when i clicked into a song somewhere after i initially started it the problem went away. I use graphic equalizer's at high levels in iTunes and real player and they're fine. My operating system is xp sp2.

Perhaps the issue is not with the graphic equaliser, but with the quality of the speakers that you are using.
Try backing off the settings a bit and see if the sound quality improves.
You might also want to update the Drivers for your Soundcard, as this could be the culprit too.
