I am using a HPOfficejet Pro 8500 printer.
Using Windows Vista 64 bit
Attempting to install software for the printer and receiving the following error when attempting to install software for wireless
'HP INSTALLERFIREWALL EXCEPTION PLUG-INHAS STOPPED WORKING'

Also if attempting to install USB connection to printer, it is not being allowed to do so.

I went to 'SERVICES' and disabled Windows Firewall Installer' and made certain that Windows Installer was activated and started.

Now I am at a loss and need help to get the software installed.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

Locate the file hpzfwx01.exe on the HP installation CD.
Right-click the file & choose Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Tick the option "Run this program in compatibility mode for....."
Select Windows XP from the drop-down box.
Click OK.

It would also be better to use the latest universal driver for that printer that supports your OS. it sounds like the one on the disc you have was designed for XP (I've seen similar errors on Vista in the past with HP installers that don't work well with the new firewall). Also, disabling the firewall service is a pretty bad idea - I'd re-enable it.
