DCOM - Unable to Communicate

Good Morning,

I'm receiving a System log occurrence every thirty seconds.

Event ID - 1009 (Distributed COM)

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <Machine Name> using any of the configured protocols.

I'm currently unable to locate what the source of this call is.

- I have to stop the source of the call on the client.
- I cannot enable remote access.
- I cannot disable DCOM events in the log.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Try the suggestions here: http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=10009&eventno=579&source=dcom&phase=1

Otherwise, try using Process Monitor (free here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx ) and have it make a log file around the time that the DCOM error occurs.

FWIW - these logs are HUGE, so it's best if you can figure out how to generate the error. Also, the last time I used it it filled my hard drive with the log file - and I had to use a PE mode disk to delete enough to get back into Windows. BE CAREFUL!!! and backup your stuff (both data and registry) before proceeding.
