I have a Brother MFC-J6920DW inkjet printer. I ran out of cyan ink. I bought a new genuine Brother Ink Cartridge and replaced the cartridge. It still says Cannot Detect. I bought another NEW genuine Brother cartridge and tried that also without luck. I have removed the new cartridge and but the old one back in. It still Cannot Detect. I have powered down, i have removed all the cartridges, I have tried all the solutions posted on the internet that I can find, I have called Brother Tech Support. All other cartridges can be removed and replaced and they are detected just fine. But the Cyan cannot detect. Most of the printing I do is actually BW but unless the printer can detect the cartridge it will not do anything. After 3 return calls from the Brother Tech Support, they are trying to convince me that the problem is coming from my computer, but my computer is NOT connected to the printer. We print wirelessly from Cell Phones and Computer. Brother tells me that they now have a solution but that is will cost me $100 to get it. I politely say BUNK! Does anyone have a possible solution? I am about to reset the printer to factory defaults and delete from Computer and reinstall using original installation disk. I just don't understand how 3 cartridges work but one will not. HELP!!!!

A while ago, I have a Brother Printer that had this same issue. I Emailed Brother support seeing if they can Email me any suggestions and they called me back the next day. We did some trouble shooting steps on the phone and the tech determined that the sensor for the one ink cartridge failed. That printer was still under warranty even though it was more then a year old and They sent me a refurbished printer in over night mail and a label to send my old printer back to them all for free.

Brother tech support is great I agree with Spunk and had a very similar issue where the did the same thing and paid all the freight. The other thing I really like about Brother is even when you are out of support they will talk to you and try to help without demanding a credit card and $90 like the others do before saying a word.
