Videos Crash Laptop

Hi there,
For the past year when we stream videos or even watch discs on the laptop it eventually completely shuts down. Sometimes we see "Internal Application Error" before going black.
It seems to be happening more and more frequently. I have debugged, defragmented, and updated everything and tried to reinstall the display adapter (Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset v 7.14.10.1409) but haven't found the exact one on Intel's site and so don't want to uninstall it yet.
Just downloaded Speed Fan but haven't gotten far with what to do. We've checked and de-dusted the inside as best we could. The computer does feel pretty warm much of the time it crashes. Sometimes we perch it up so air runs beneath it.
Not an IT techie but can follow directions. We don't have cable just two small children and it sure would be nice to be able to stream a video now and then when they finally go to sleep!
Any useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

NOTE: I have severe eye problems. If I do not respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

Please provide the following information even though you're not reporting BSOD's: http://www.techsupportforum.com/for.../blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-7-and-vista-452654.html

Monitor the temps with SpeedFan and report the temps when the system shuts down.
Use a cooling pad for the laptop (available from most major retailers)
Blow out all vents with canned air (DON'T use a vacuum cleaner or air compressor as they can damage the system).
Check to make sure that the fan is working when the system is warmed up.
