No kernel memory dump files being produced upon bsod?

`

NO KERNEL MEMORY DUMP FILES BEING PRODUCED UPON BSOD?

CHECKLIST

For dumps to be produced. . .

- Page file must be on OS drive
- Page file base allocation size must be > than installed physical RAM
- Windows Error Reporting (WER) system service should be set to MANUAL
- Set page file to system managed, OS drive

Set System Crash/ Recovery Settings to "Kernel Memory Dump" - this will produce. . .
--> a Full Kernel Memory Dump - c:\windows\memory.dmp
--> a Mini Kernel dump c:\windows\minidump

The Full Kernel is overwritten each BSOD; a new mini kernel dump is created w/ different name for each BSOD

To check your system's "Recoveros" (Recovery) and Page File settings via Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), run the following -

HTML output - IE will open w/ output - WMI - "Recoveros" and Page File Settings (HTML)

Text file output - Notepad will open w/ output - WMI - "Recoveros" and Page File Settings (TEXT)

For additional information, please see Microsoft kb307973, "How to configure system failure and recovery options in Windows".

Monitor CPU & Ram over time - Windows 7 Forums

To view page file settings, bring up an Admin cmd/DOS screen & paste this applet -

Or, click on START; paste the applet into the StartSearch box -
Code:

SystemPropertiesPerformance.exe /pagefile

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH - Posting Instructions

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS

If you are seeking help for Windows 7 or Vista BSODs, please follow these instructions carefully. The total time required will be less than 15 minutes; most of it SYSTEM run time. When you have finished the steps, create a new thread HERE in TSF BSOD, App Crashes And Hangs Forum and select a thread title that includes "BSOD". In your initial post, describe your system crashes in detail and provide basic system information - if you know it -
Code:
· OS - Vista/ Windows 7 ?
· x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?
· What was original installed OS on system?
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)?
· Age of system (hardware)
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS?
· CPU
· Video Card
· MotherBoard
· Power Supply - brand & wattage

1. Download SysInternals AutoRuns from Microsoft TechNet and SAVE it to your DOCUMENTS folder.

2. Download the Windows 7 & Vista EXE file - save it to your DOCUMENTS folder.

3. RIGHT-click on the EXE file icon (from step #2) and select "Run as Administrator"
*** Running as Administrator is imperative
- The small black cmd/DOS screen will appear with status information
- Other windows will open & close
- NO user interaction - except SysInternals AutoRuns EULA - "Accept" it and allow the batch script to complete
- The batch file may need up to 10 minutes to run - PLEASE be patient !
- output = a new folder found in Documents named Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2

4. Run a System Health Report - save in HTML (default file extension) format:
START | type perfmon /report - a viewer will appear. Save as an HTML file.

5. Zip up the entire Windows7_Vista folder & the PERFMON HTML file and attach the zip file to your next post.

Please do not modify the files in the Windows 7_Vista folder as ALL files are needed.

There is a very limited number of BSOD kernel dump specialists. So, please be patient.
If you have not received a response in 48 hours, you may "bump" the thread.

6. Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics while waiting for a reply to your post:
H/W Diagnostics:

· Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
· HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)
Any ? - please let me know. . .

If no memory dumps --> BSODs Not Producing Kernel Memory Dumps?

`

How to ZIP a file and ATTACH it to your post

Zipping up the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 folder - RIGHT-click on the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 folder, select "Send To", select "Compressed (zipped) folder". There should now be a zip file named Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2.zip. This is the file that will be attached to your post.

Attaching the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 zipped file to a post - start a reply to your post as you normally would. Once in the reply screen, scroll down and you will see "Manage Attachments". Click on it. A smaller screen will appear - click on "Browse" - up toward the top. Locate the zip file that you are attaching and select it = Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2.zip - in your Documents folder. Click 2x on it. You will be returned to the smaller screen. Click on "Upload" (next to Browse). Close the smaller window and submit your reply post.

Any ? - please send me a PM.
