hope someone can help me; I want to add another hard drive to my notebook. the drive that came with it is a 100gb drive. I would like to add another drive to it, either a 100gb,120gb or 160. the problem is I cannot find the caddy and conector for the xtra drive nor can I get it from hp. If anyone knows the part numbers for these items and can recommend the best size drive(the speed has to be 5400) for my laptop, I would very happy. Couldn't get any help from hp techs. Also need info where to purcase from

Hi, welcome to TSF.

Do you want an extra drive inside the computer? I don't think that's possible.

Your computer supports USB 2.0 - an external hard drive with a separate power adapter would be the best choice, IMO.

I agree with eneles, the only way to increase the HDD capacity is either by replacing the current HDD or by using an external one. As far externals go, try this: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=296949 or, if you prefer to upgrade the internal one, try this: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=559214.

If you want to upgrade the internal drive, you'll need to image the disk onto an external drive, using Ghost or some other equivalent software.

If all you need is more space, I'd go for an external drive and wouldn't have to worry about imaging.

thanks everyone for your help, I'll take a look at external drives, I just thought that since I had an xtra drive compartment, it would be more convienent to insert an internal drive than have to worry about carrying around an xternal one. again thanks
