I number of time, on shifting to console from "graphic screen" with use of "ctrl+alt+Fn" (Fn may be function key F1 to F6), X-server terminates abruptly.

It appears that there is some space roblem. Here is a part of log:

Which Distro of Linux are you using?

Using PCQ RedHat 7.1 distributed by PC Quest magazine in India. Kernal is 2.4.2-2. The X-server is upgraded from version 4.0.3 to 4.2.0. The problem remain same with both version of X-servers.
