I booted my PC and received this message
<windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
windows could not start because file is missing or corrupt
reinstall copy of file.

I inserted my windows disk and booted from CD I ended up with second copy of windows that will not boot normally but is accessable through root menu
original copy not accessable no mater what I try. Both of these copies are located on the C drive. There is also a copy of XP home located on my D drive that was the original OS that came with PC. That system failed and I was unable to restore with disks that came with system, so I added 160GB drive and installed XP pro. System has been working fine for several years until above mentioned error. I understand that it is probably past time to replace my CPU but!!! if nothing more than just the satisfaction I would like to restore my system to operation. Thanks in advance to any that can help me resolve this, Mike
