xp install problems

i went to do my regular 4 month drive cleaning, and every time i try to install xp with either cd, the installation crashes at 19 min remaining. i have a fully legal version of xp pro, but it's a burn. i also have an older corporate version and it's also a burn, but i've installed off both before with no problems. how come i'm getting problems now? could there be anything more than maybe dust on my cdrom lens or something? i've tried changing hard drives and that hasnt worked to my advantage. i've tried with both cds and it stalls around the same place. i cleaned off the cds also. i dont know what other variables there could be.

"Crashes" is not very descriptive. What exactly happens? Since both copies stop at the identical place, I'm guessing it's a hardware or BIOS configuration issue. Have you tried resetting the BIOS to defaults?
crashes as in stops responding and does nothing. literally there is the little blipping bar in the right hand corner, and that stops moving and the mouse loses response. if u jam on the keyboard enough, usually it'll beep a bunch, but that doesnt happen either. i reset the bios to defaults and still no luck. any ideas? i already dl'd the winxp image again and im about to write the cd (this is now all on my laptop obviously) to see if that has _anything_ to do with it.
