Here is my predicament, my hp with a xp os potentialy has a hardware issue. When turned on it never reaches the welcome screen or the log in screen it stays on for aprox. 5 seconds and it shuts it self off and turns it self on and off and so on and so forth. My guess is that it is the power supply, the power cables are in working order.

Hi D_Citizen and welcome to TSF:wave:

To stop the cycling, tap on the F8 key at early boot to get to the Advanced Task Menu.

Besides all the boot methods, there is an entry that says something like "No auto reboot on system failure". Click on that one to stop the cycling.

That should take you to a Blue Screen with an error message and stop codes (groups of large numbers). Please post those messages and codes here so we can try to help you isolate the problem.

Also, try booting in the Save Mode from that menu.

Tell us how it goes,

Best regards,
Mack1
