Hey,

I'm running Windows 98 on a Compaq Deskpro. I have a Xerox DocuPrint P1210 printer hooked up and every time that I try to print a document I get the following print-out:

PCL6 ERROR - undefined XL code

POSITION : 0xf87 (3975)

SYSTEM : GP/xl_pa

LINE: 789

VERSION : PCL6 2.25 07-06-2000

Has anyone encountered anything like this before, and do you know what I need to do to fix it?

Thanks!

Dustin

Is this printer on a parallel port?

Also, have you attempted to reinstall the drivers for it?

Have you tried the printer on another computer?

I've experienced a similar problem with my Xerox Phaser 3210 connected on the parallel port of my Win98 (Traditional Chinese) PC.

The error message is:
PCL Error - undefined XL code
Position: 0x6f3 (1779)
System: GP/xl_pa
Line: 878
Version: PCL6 3.00 09-14-2001

I've reinstall the driver several times. I've tried both Traditional Chinese and English versions of the driver as well.

Strange enough, the same printer works perfectly fine on my other home PC running XP.

Grateful if someone could advise me how to fix this problem.

I happened to install a Samsung laser printer yesterday and had the same error. Go the the printer properties in control panel and check the spool settings. Make sure it is set to send in EMF format and not RAW.

You may also want to make sure the BIOS setting for the LPT port is set as EPP/ECP.

Hope this solves the issue. It did for me.
