xbox 360 vga capturing

New to this forum, researched a bunch of possibilities and I've come to the same simple question. Is there a cheap solution for vga gamers (xbox on a viewsonic) to capture their gameplay without spending hundreds? I don't want to use a card, I have a laptop (which generally limits me to usb capturing).
I've considered a bunch of options like splitting the vga, leading one output to my monitor obviously so I can play, and leading the other to even a converter (even if it downgrades the quality... it would be less expensive than vga capturing). But even the converters are as expensive as vga capturing to begin with.
Now I'm not going to complain about expensive solutions, I just want to hear solutions in general. It seems like vga gamers can't capture or stream without blowing 300+ bucks.
Let me know if anyone can help! Gamertag = lx PURE xl
Set up (not that it matters [just for info]) Dell Latitude D830 duo 2.5 ghz 4gb ram. Playing on a 22' Viewsonic so vga is what I use. I also know HDMI is another half open door, but I would like to stick with vga.

And for those of you who happened to stumble across this post and are looking for a solution regardless that it costs 300 bucks -- look up Epiphan Systems VGA2USB. Plain, simple, overpriced. But it works and works well.

If you take a look at the picture or diagram they posted, it shows the idea of the splitter using their product. I wish this idea was as simple as 1) buying the splitter 2) lead one vga into monitor/tv for gaming 3) lead other vga into laptop (since my laptop and most other people's has a female vga connection)
BUT NO.
