WSUS Won't Quit!

Updates that I had approved for install eariler and then decided to decline never stopped downloading.

I was going to approve all 1627 updates for install but then decided that might cause space problems on the server. But now I am not sure if the updates are even being stored locally.

Right now all updates are selected "Detect Only", yet the WSUS server is telling me that it is in the process of downloading 600 updates (28,000GB). I cannot sacrifice that much disk space on the server.

What should I do to make sure thatall of the servers updates are "Detect Only" and not downloading updates?

If you are having a problem with storage on the server then there are a few options. First in the WSUSAdmin page click on Options then Synchronization Options. Scroll to the bottom and hit advanced. Here you can tell WSUS to only download Approved updates or to Download the express install files. It also gives you the option to have the files install directly from microsoft's servers.

That's 28GB, not 28TB yes? I haven't crunched the numbers, but I was fairly sure the update size count didn't reach into the terabytes (I shudder to think otherwise).
Well I would like to keep the updates local, because one of the ideas behind our WSUS deployment was to prevent all of the clients from having to download the updates from the internet.

For some reason the updates that I had approved and then later declined were in the process of downloading. I cancelled the downloads and declined the updates, when I seleted the updates for "detect only" they seemed to re-download the updates.

I think I will just let the downloads finish and then delete them off the drive. Any ideas on where the files are?
They are kept in the directory that you installed WSUS. On my machine that is D:\WSUS
Threre are two sub directories off of C:\WSUS

WSUS Content
WSUSSQL

Which one can I delete and not affect program performance?
It seems that changing the advanced option, reboot, revert to previous configuration, reboot, has fixed this issue.

Thanks.
