Hello,

So i recently purchased new computer parts and assembled them about 2 weeks ago. I decided to use the Windows 7 RC as my main OS and got everything up and working. After a minor problem with a wireless adapter card driver, my system seemed to be running great. I played WoW at near full setting with around 50-60 fps, also had firefox and the whole bit running smooth.

However recently when I try and load up World of Warcraft, my system locks up just as the loading screen is about to be complete. The blue bar at the bottom is full, however the system remains at the loading screen and the sound cuts out. I've tried logging on to other chars and sometimes it logs me in, sometimes the same thing happens. If I do manage to get logged in, the system is fine, it seems just getting over the inital log in screen is the problem.

The only thing that gets the computer out of this lockup is a hard reboot, and I really hate having to keep doing that when I'm trying to get this issue fixed.

I currently have the newest drivers installed for my video card, however have not updated the Bios due to the CD that came with my motherboard not being compatible with windows 7. I know this issue has plagued alot of people, hopefully someone has seem something similar before.

My system specs

MB- Asus P5Q-E LGA 775 Motherboard

Gcard- Evga GeForce GTX 260 core 216 series

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz

HD- Western Dig. 640GB Sata Drive

Wireless Card - Linksys Wireless-G Pci adapter (With Ralink Wireless Lan Card Driver)

Ram - 8GB OCZ DDR2 SDRAM (4 sticks 2GB a piece)

PSU Rosewill RP650-2 650W, ATX12V v2.2/EPS12V v.2.91

OS - Windows 7 RC 64-bit edition

Like I mentioned, its just the loading screen, once over that everything works great. Thanks for taking a look.

I really don't think is a power supply issue. If it was, I think the game would crash once I'm actually playing it due to not enough power being supplied. This is not what is happening. Only the loading screen is the problem, once loaded the game runs great.

And hybeh, I've checked Blizzs Forums and there is are many many issues players ahve written, I've made a post and some people have reported the same issue with 64 bit systems. Software opposed to an hardware issue, though I'm still not sure.

I really don't think that is the problem. Maybe i am a bit underpowered, but if that was the problem, it would be incredibly laggy when I actually do get logged in, the video card would be crapping out, this is not the case. The game runs really well when i get actually logged in with full settings. Its just getting over the loading screen.

Just doesn't make sense to me how it could be the PSU...any other ideas?

Update, so i removed my Rosewill PSU and installed a
CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 per everyones recommendation, and surprise surprise I have the exact same problem...

After doing some tests and having my friend move my character to different spots, I have come to the conclusion that I can log in to low density, low effects area, an example would be a small inn (Griz. Hills) rather than a major city (Dalaran)

I guess for now, I will have to remember to always log my chars out of the main cities and only in smaller load areas, a big inconvenience, but at least I can still play.
