Hi,

You have modified your MS Word template file (document 1)

The solution is to delete it

Search your hard drive for a file called

normal.dot

Delete all copies of it.

You may need to set your search to also look for hidden and system files.

Once you have deleted the file(s)

Restart MS Word

MS Word will then recreate the file normal.dot template file with default page size, margins, onts etc.

You can change these back to whatever you had them set at or as and then click on the default button to save them in the template file.

This may not be the right place or the right thing to ask, but one thing's is for sure, if I dont ask I wont know, so here goes. One of my employees bought me this laptop, a Gateway from Circuit City, and he ordered it online, etc and we got a wireless remote unit and other stuff but there is no Word program. I went to cut a paste something to a Word document that never came up the other week simply because there is no Word program on my computer. I guess Word was kind of standard like getting windshield wipers on a car. Hey honey its raining put the wipers on ok? Sorry dear, we bought the stripped down version remember? Is there any way to get it w/o going to Best Buy? It has been a while since I bought the computer about 12 months ago.....just thought I would ask. Thanks for any help:rolleyes: :sigh:

You can buy MS Office through a local reatil outlet, or online (stick to a reputable site like NewEgg). Caution - if the site offers a download of MS Office, it's not legit!

Another solution is to download Open Office ... www.openoffice.org ... It's free, and works great, plus it is compatible with MS Office (can read/save as Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Chevy, Thanks, I went to www.openoffice.com where I was directed to www.thinkall.com and they were giving away a compatible program called Open Office along with your choice of 3 other cd programs, my son and I took Music Edit Studio, Web Design Studio and Animation Studio all 4 for shipping costs of $2.96. They asked me to email 5 friends with their limited time offer. There were several programs that many folks might enjoy. There were no surveys to fill out, no credit card applications, so sent a few emails also mention TSF website for a fantastic friendly community of computer knowledgeable folks so maybe they will drop in. But thanks for the help on the Word, I have MS Office but when I went to see what was upwith the Word program it asked me for some code off the box which I did not have and dont know where it is, so the offer there from MS expired after 60 days, that is why I need some kind of Word type Document program, but anyway your suggestion was extremely helpful. I will get these in the mail in about a week, then we should have a lot of questions to ask on the Forum. Thanks again RWC

Well, I am still waiting for thinkall.com to sent the CDs for the shipping price. I tried to go to their website but it would not load, wondering if they just left with my money. But if you are going to scam, why scam for 3 bucks? Anyone know about www.thinkall.com? Thx
