I did i quick search through the forum and stumbled across this thread:

This problem is essentially exactly the same as mine, but I was just wondering where I could find the old drivers that the guy in the thread above installed before he reinstalled the new Catalyst drivers. I already tried reinstalling the Catalyst drivers and the problem remains.

Naturally, if I turn off hardware acceleration for the videos in windows media player, they work fine, but I can't make them fullscreen, which I like to do when I am watching things from my bed or whatnot. It's also a pain to turn back on video acceleration every time I want to watch some of the high bitrate movies that I have.

Any suggestions?

You can get older versions of Catalyst from http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=18

Try replacing WMP with Media Player Classic www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html
It solved all my video problems and is a much better full-screen player with pan, zoom, stretch, frame advance, variable playback speeds, full-screen browser streams, optional onscreen controls display etc.
