I live in N.Ireland(UK) and a mate asked me tonight about wireless for his home.
I am writing cos im not too sure about this stuff so forgive me for this seems quite trivial to some users.

Question was that he has a PC upstairs that he wants to put on Broadband via BT Broadband. The modem they sent was a basic wired moden and usb etc. The main phone socket is downstairs and he had originally thought about getting an extension from downstairs to the bedroom upstairs so that the modem could be plugged in beside the pc obvoiusly.

I mentioned that he may be able to avoid this and get a wireless modem attached downstairs and he could have it received someway upstairs on his pc (P4).
My question is what would be the simplest /most cost effective way to do this?

Many thanks in advanced for any help offered

For most of the solutions you might want to employ, you MUST have an Ethernet connection. If this is a USB-only modem, he needs to get a better modem first.
