I'm relocating a server from our IT's system to another system housed in our department, and run by me. Currently, this server is plugged into their core, and is part of several databases and services that are enacted on one network (and one cable). This includes the phones around the building.

I'm running separate lines to all the workstations within the building to hook into the server so that they may continue to access the server, since it will be removed from the core network.

Unfortunately, at least 3 of these workstations are in an adjacent building, and running cable is very difficult. However, I've decided that outfitting those workstations with wireless connectivity is the way to go.

My question is, since there will be between 12 and 14 connections to this server, what kind of switch do I need and can I plug a wireless unit into this switch so that the 3 or 4 computers can access the server as well?
