I set up a a small wireless network at home, using WRT54G Linksys wireless broadband router. I leave the router always on although the computers are turned off when nobody is using them. I found out yesterday, that my internet connections was being used by someone else, while all my compouters were turned off.

I am using WPA, TKIP and there is a shared key.

What else should I do to avoid such a problem?
How do I check the router´s log to find out who was using my connection?

Wireless Security

Thank you cjesse. The article is really interesting. To answer your question, I noticed that while all my computers were turned off, the router and modem's leds were flashing for a lot, indicating internet activity.

I then connected to the router trying to search for o log or something else, but could not find anything to help me.

Is there any way to find out what IP was being used?

Look in the router's activity log, it should tell you who connected and when.

Of course, if you enable WPA encryption with a random key of at least 20 characters, this will be a non-issue.
