Hello,

I have this strange problem with my wireless connection. Whenever I'm on skype connected through wireless AT MY HOUSE skype and starcraft2 online has these long hick-ups, the messages on skype get pending for a couple of minutes before being sent, I get disconnected from the starcraft server. I can browse the web well, no problem with http. I've tried 2 different routers and 2 different laptops, both get same problem with skype and starcraft.

However, if I plug the net cable directly to my PC, the problem seems to be solved.

Would love to answer any questions and hear any suggestions.

Welcome to TSF,

From your wireless computer pls. install and run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector.
Click on the 'Show Networks' to display all wireless networks on the xirrus icon on your desktop of if you have one running in a corner. Tap the Printscreen key on your keyboard, open up Paint then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then SAVE it. Upload and attached it here, click on Go Advanced and locate Manage Attachments Tab and attached the file.

Let's try changing the Channel to 6 or 11. Also you might want to secure your network, try WPA or WPA2 best.

Do you have the latest firmware for your router? You may download it from the Manufacturer's site then use a wired connection to manually install the new firmware.

To change the channel, you will have to get into your router.

To get into your router, you will have to be connected to it, so if you can get a laptop or something, best to be directly connected to it while messing with the router settings.

XP: Start > run > type "CMD" > type "ipconfig /all"

Vista/7: Start > type "CMD" in search > type "ipconfig /all"

What shows up for Default Gateway or IPv4 Default Gateway is what you type into the address bar of your browser. Should be in the wireless settings.

Thanks.

I've managed to change the channel but there seems to be a problem with upgrading my firmware. I've downloaded the file from Manufacturer's site and when I tried to upload it to my router, it said "The chosen file is not a valid firmware image file."

BTW, the router is Dlink DIR300/NRU.

Is this it? I didn't see DIR300 on the list.

Not sold in the USA? Not sure if this is it, but I am wondering if there is a difference in the regional regulations in how radio wave need to be setup. Basically, something is different, so receiving interference?

Longshot, but thought I would throw that in. :)
