Wireless network problems

I recently bought a wireless access point (Linksys model WAP54G) and for PC#2 a Linksys wireless 802.11g USB adapter. For some reason, I can't install the software for the WAP on this computer, because it says that it can't find the AP on the computer. I know the cables are connected correctly, and my Local Area Connection is seeing the AP. On the other hand, my computer with the USB adapter connected to it sees the connection, and is sometimes actually connected to the Internet. However, for some reason, the Internet doesn't work on PC2. I've gotten it to work perfectly before, but now it no longer works on the computer. The Internet is shared, and I'm out of ideas...

If anyone could help, that would be great... :) Thanks!

By the way, I just needed to know if I could, and how to, install the software and get the internet working on PC 2. Thanks!
The only software you should need is the driver for the adapter. If you have Windows XP then I'd recommend just using the built-in wireless configuration utility.
How do I get there? I am using WinXP on both computers. Different times, if I restart PC 2, I can be on the Internet for a couple of minutes. I can still see the network most times, but I never have the Internet. Any more help, please?
disabling the windows xp built-in wireless utility seems to fix a lot of these wireless problems I have encountered in the past. Read the posts below and see if this can help you.

I still don't know what to do...

The adapter still sees the WAP. However, sometimes if I restart pc2, none of the networking things open, such as the icon in the lower right hand corner or the wireless network monitor. When I try and open up Network Connections, the computer freezes up and I have to reset. However, other times it'll come up and see the AP again... I just don't know how to keep it liket that and stay on the internet. What could I try and do? I'm a network noob so explaining things out will probably help me.
I am getting an IP Address and Subnet mask to the WAP, but still no Internet. Both of the computers are automatically finding IPs and that kind of thing, and I've tried setting normal ones, but that doesn't help. PC1 sees the connection to the WAP as a Local Area Connection, not a wireless connection. All of the lights are on on the AP, and I'm getting excellent signal strength. Any help, please?
