Wireless network, limited access?

Windows 7 says there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter. I don't have an internet connection because of this, in the network connection troubleshooting I clicked on ''try rhese repairs as an administrator''. Then it states that the problem has been detected (but not solved). What can I do to fix this? I've tried reseting the modem and the router, going to a friends house to try his internet and even scanned the pc with spybot and avg internet security wich turned out clean. Any help?:4-dontkno

try pulling the power from the router for a 20 count then plug back in - reboot. if that does not work, try the same with the modem.

I tried it and it doesn't work, I've also rebooted the laptop and it didn't change a thing!
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.

  1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
  2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
  3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

It would be best if you could post a screen shot of Device Manager with the Network adapters and Other devices sections expanded.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

1- Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter, Realtek PCIe FE family controller, Realtek RTL8191SE wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC

2-No

3-No

By the way here are some details, you can see this on a screenshot I posted on my previous reply. I had a connection problem so I used the connetion troubleshooting and I saw a message that says there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter. It says that I'm connected but that I have ''Limited Access''.

Try uninstalling/reinstalling your Realtek Wireless network adapter from Device Manager. Here's how. Have your CD Driver ready.

ok, so basically I uninstall it then I follow the ''To reinstall a non-Plug and Play device'' to reinstall it, right? And why should I have my cd drive ready?

Sorry if I have so much questions,it's just that I fear not being able to reinstall it after I uninstall it.
The CD driver contains the driver for your wireless network adapter.
Well, you shouldn't worry about uninstalling it, because none of your network adapters are being recognized by Windows! :smile:

Let's do a stack reset on this machine.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or Windows 7.

Start, All Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, each followed by the Enter key:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

I tried it, rebooted and still the same.
In device Manager, uninstall ALL the network devices and then reboot the machine and let Windows discover them again.
Thank you very much! :pray: It solved the problem instantly. I rebooted and had only to wait for the drivers to reinstall and input my network key. Again, thank you for helping me solve this problem. :wave:
