Wireless connection

hello i have SBC DSL and a laptop with a wireless card.

Is there any adapter i could buy and insert it into the router to make it so the laptop can have the internet without an ethernet cable?

Or would i have to buy a router?

The cheapest path is a broadband router. If you check these sites, you'll see deals for $10-15 after rebate regularly for a wireless router.
