Wireless Adaptor not recognised

Hi,

Looking for some help!! i recently installed a INTEL 3945ABG wireless card mini PCI-E EXPRESS adapter, which my laptop does not recognise, it just comes up in the system tray @ first then greys itself out and has a red cross next to it, when i click on it all the menu buttons are greyed out and a double clicking on it just brings the software up saying no adaptor is installed please install a compatiable adaptor,even under system / device manager its not even there.

I did install the hardware manually and it says that "The device could not start Error Code 10".

Any help as its for my daughters xmas and its nearly here
