if i have a wireless router which supports transfer up 108 mbps and my friend comes over and has wireless network card that supports 54 will he be able use it?


are they each compatible with each other?

You also need to consider disabling the "turbo" functions that are non-standard. A common problem is that you can't connect when they're enabled if you don't use the same brand of 802.11b/g hardware.

108 Mbps is basically the 54 Mbps with 'turbo' which doubles the bandwidth. it has been known to cause some connection issues but you could try connecting and it may work. if not you should be able to change the router to use striaght 802.11g standard speeds and then the connection should go ok.
