I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a linksys wrt54gp2 router. I am unable to get the laptop working on wired ethernet with this router. The lights at the ethernet port on my laptop do not come on when I connect to this router and I see the "network cable unplugged" error. However, the same router port and cable work with my other (HP) laptop. I tried a different (Airlink) router and that seems to work with my Toshiba laptop. The ethernet port lights are on and I do not see the netowork cable unplugged error and I can connect to the internet with the airlink router. It seems to be a combination of the linksys router with the toshiba laptop that is causing this issue. The same combination is however working on wireless. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks,
Rajesh

Well, I've seen this from time to time. It appears to be some sort of electrical compatibility issue. One way I've solved this is by using a cheap Ethernet switch between the units.
