I have a network of 10 computers running Win2k sp4 and a Win2k AD server. I'm trying to add 2 WinXP Pro SP2 computers to the domain --

They connect to the domain okay, and see the server, but when they try to get to a shared printer or any shared resource on the Win2k clients, they get an authentication error failure.

The printer has permissions set for 'everyone' to print.

One of the error messages the XP machine gets is 'unable to locate a domain controller to authenticate', but the user logged in to the domain in the first place.

I'm stuck -- any help would be appreciated thanks!

No, that will not work - it asks for a user name and password. Then any user account in the domain gives an authentication error if it is tried.

Since I want to connect to the shared printer, that is the first thing I tried.

For anyone who's interested, I fixed the problem myself anyway --

The workstations had their DNS servers pointing externally in TCP/IP settings, so I changed the primary server to point to the Domain Controller.
