Does anyone know if it is possible to do a WindowsXP Home repair with a WindowsXP Professional CD?

Also, has anyone upgraded from WindowsXP Home to WindowsXP Professional? Does everything remain the same once you've completed the upgrade except now you have WindowsXP Pro capability? I mean, will my profile be intact with all installed programs working?
