Windows XP - missing files.

I recently purchased a logiteck Quick cam pro 5000 web cam. Installation went ok until I was asked to connect the cam when I received an on screen message, "The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later".

I actually run Windows XP with SP2 both fully updated plus newest DirectX.

Logitech support talked me through various processes & checks and eventually concluded that my system was missing 2 essential files. (1) USB.INF (2) WDMA_USB.INF

Can anybody advise on where/if I can download these files?
I do not have a WindowXP master disk as windows was pre installed on purchase.

It is possible that the when I removed my previous cam from the system that it took the files with it as I am not able to re install that cam either.

Thank you.

Hi Tartanhugh, welcome to TSF...

the following may be helpful to you:

USB.INF

WDMA_USB.INF

They the same size/versions as the copy which are already on my system so should be ok but as a precaution, make a system restore point before using them.

Hope that helps :)
Does the cam install but not work or are you unable to install it?

Do you get any error messages?

With the .inf files, did you right click them and select to install?
As bat21 suggested, check any restore disks you may have as the drivers may be on there (don't actually boot with the restore disk in place but you should be able to load it with Windows running and then explorer the contents).

Also, did you get any discs with the Logitech cam?
