Windows XP fails to detect certain types of USB storage..

For some reason, my Windows XP installation does not detect removable drives. The only exception is my USB Hard Disk, which shows as a Hard Drive instead of removable media in the my computer screen.

The reason I've posted this topic in the Windows support section is because I've determined the problem to be exclusive to Windows. Linux detects my various removable media just fine...

does you motherboard have a Nvdia chipset ? I found this to be a common problem among them, if so try updating your bios, and chipset drivers if you have not already done so.
