I'm running windows XP, with service pack 2. I had the windows automatic updater turned off for a while, so yesterday afternoon, I turned it back on and downloaded and installed several patches from Microsoft. I rebooted and my computer would only run in 600x480, and in 16 colors. I tried to reinstall video drivers, but that did not seem to work. After some working in display settings, I could at least get it to 800x600. I tried another restart, Windows went to run a check disk, there were a few problems, but it solved those, and then after the check disk finished, it just sat there and did nothing. I tried to power off and then on a few times, every time it went to check disk, then just sat there after it finished. Each time though, the check disk fixed different errors, but every time, it would just sit there. I tried to boot into safe mode, and it did the same thing, and trying to boot to the last working version of windows also did not work.
