I have a desktop PC running WinXP I recently got a laptop running Win7. I Set both of them up with the same workgroup name, and now my XP machine can see and access my laptop, but my lap can't see my XP machine. If it makes any difference, I can remote into my XP from my laptop, but that's not what I need.

Any ideas?

Check that the xp firewall is set to allow file and printer sharing and that it is allowing your win7 box to connect.

file and printer sharing IS enabled. I even shut off Windows firewall, with the same results: I can see and access the laptop in Windows XP, but my Laptop can't see or access my Windows XP machine.
I've heard that Windows 7 isn't very compatible with non Win7 OS's. Is this possibly the issue? Does someone with a similar setup have any ideas?
I've included a rough diagram of how everything is connected physically as well.
