Windows wont start???

Hello,
I need some help. Started up my comp and all I get is the black screen that asks to start in safe mode, last known good etc, etc,. I have tried every option and it gets to the windows logo screen and restarts. I did some searching on this site and found that the repair option from the xp disk would help. Tried that and did the fixboot and now the comp gives me an error on startup saying "missing NTDLR" or something like that. Took the hard drive out and put it into anouther comp as a slave and it only says that it is a 10MB hard drive when it is a 60GIG drive and there is nothing on it. Is there anyway of reclaming this drive without formatting it or am I screwed. Dont mind if I have to format but would like to try and get some stuff off it if its still there.

Thanks for any help you all may have :4-dontkno

another troubeshooting you can do is to check the hdd for any errors. if you can get to a working computer, check out the manufacturer's website of your hdd any download the diagnostics utility of you dont have one.

then bootup with the diagnostics utility with you hdd hook into your computer and test it for any errors. good luck!!! also try a simple solution such as replacing the hdd cable.
Hi and welcome to TSF

See if the "repair install" option is available to you when you boot the windows disc - this is not the 'repair from within recovery console' option.

If you can run a "repair install" your data should stay in place - however, you will need to re-install windows updates and check your main drivers (mainboard and graphic).

Will try this again tomorrow. But I don't think that will work as I tried that and got the NTDLR problem. We'll see and I will let ya know. Thanks
Did you try CHKDSK from the Recovery Console?
