Ok, so I'm supposed to be taking care of somebody's computer for the vacation... and now it won't work... so obviously I need this fixed very soon!
I am not that great with computers so please bear with me if some steps seem obvious, I'd rather provide lots of detail than none.
First, some machine details:
Machine: Dimension E510
Media Center Edition
Pentium IV HT Inside processor
When I try to start the computer, it goes to the "Dell" screen, and loads the bar that says "BIOS Revision AO5" under it.
But after that, I encounter problems. It first said "Floppy Diskette seek failure", which was probably because my computer doesn't have a floppy drive. So I entered the setup and disabled that. I also noticed that when my "Drive 1: SATA-2" is set to "On", the message: "Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-2" is displayed, but I can still proceed. I don't know what this indicates, thought it might help.
So, once I continue, it ends up in a black screen telling me windows did not start, and that I can choose Safe Mode, Last Working Configurations, etc. I have tried every one, and each time it goes briefly into the windows startup screen and then to a blue screen that says:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen, restart you computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical Information:
***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7A2D524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
It will not do anything from here and I have to shut it off. Help would be greatly appreciated.
