Windows vista system recovery

My hp pavilion dv6 laptop has got a virus. The virus infected most of the windows components even the Internet browsers.
I thought of performing a system recovery. I rebooted the computer and pressed f11. I went to recovery manager and started the disk recovery. The process did not go through as an error message appeared on screen (error 1002) telling me to contact hp. I repeated the procedure many times, and the same error occurred again.
I contacted hp and they weren't helpful at all.

What other options other than disk recovery do I have to get rid of the virus? Will the problem be solved if I reinstall the windows? And I'm not very familiar with installing windows, if you are please help.
